Chris’s 2023 Recap
2023 has been like a camera for me, “Captured both vibrant shots of my success and blurry pics of my failures, zoomed in on my progress, wide-angled on the challenges, leaving the full picture to be developed in hindsight”. I won’t forget from visiting 2 new Indian states to going to Solapur just for weekends to learning innumerable lessons of life and much more to be revealed in the blog. This blog might sound like a journal, cuz obviously I’m writing it in that way.
January was a chilled where I travelled to Lonavala to cover a destination wedding as an assistant photographer. Was a new experience when I covered a wedding at 3:00am in the morning as I never knew that people also get married at this hour. The best part when was the schedule was so packed that there was less time to rest and more time to work but overall, it was great experience. Later made a short film just for a college project, (one of the best things to do as a mass media student). Came 1st in an inter-collegiate photography competition(certificate abtak aya nahi).
February had less activities as compared to other months. Visited the ‘Mumbai Urban Art Festival’ what a great exhibition it was, watched my favorite F1 team’s car launch in college while working for the farewell as F1 is priority. Was heading a Gillette program in the college for the department. Bid farewell to my fav seniors.
March on the other hand was one of the best and where something expected happened when our shortfilm got nominated at the “Kalakari Film Fest” (Indore) and we wanted to go but exams were on head but we got to visit and also we won. Click on the link for the detailed Indore blogs https://theinnocentkido.wixsite.com/theinnocentkido/blog/categories/indore-diaries .This trip felt surreal and also the people we met at Kalakari Film Fest were amazing.
April was also entertaining where I had the so called ‘Dream College Trip’ which every college student dreams off. This trip was to Kolkata for where our shortfilm got nominated and by God’s grace we won that too, it was a proud moment for the cinematography team especially when I received the award on behalf of the team. This trip had everything that a trip should have fun, chaos, fear, dosto ka pyar, crying, and much more. Click on the link to read it all https://theinnocentkido.wixsite.com/theinnocentkido/blog/categories/kolkata-diaries Went to Priyanka Chopra’s Citadel promotion and got to meet Anupama Chopra ma’am too.
May?? hmmm what did I do in may? Edited my Kolkata vlog and for the first I uploaded a 33 minutes vlog expecting no one to watch but it got good views as compared to my other videos. Got sick, went weak even I don’t know how, wrote and posted my Indore blog.
June was a busy one as a partiton, division and walls were created between a class that that been together since the last 2 years and now for the final year they split. Went for weekend to Solapur at D Green Hills Village Resort. It was for the first time in my life I had for a weekend so far, just for a weekend. The same month my favorite movie franchise released their 10th part i.e Fast and the Furious released FAST X so obviously no doubt had to watch it best part it was in 3D. Coming back to the partition, I was on the side of class that had a small number to be precise, 10 students. Honestly speaking ”SPECIALIZING IN JOURNALSIM WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS IN MY LIFE” . It was kind off sad to split but I’ve been through school and divisions was part of the school (also they are a part of our lives too) so it wasn’t that of a big deal.
July was cool because I actually learnt something new in photography at Pearl Academy as my college had conducted an IV for us. From breaking glasses to break hearts it was a great day. Breaking hearts refers to those whose pictures got spoilt due to others. Also it was another new experience where my juniors, my classmates and me worked together for a project. Obviously unplanned trips are the best that what happened in this month. This wasn’t a big road or so but a much needed one where my friend and me literally round tripped around places
August was actually okayish kind off, where it was my birthday month but had a presentation on that my birthday, realized that I’m 20 years and still haven’t done anything in my life, jobless, dependent adult I am. Towards the end of the month did some reece for a shortfilm which was planned to be sent up at film festivals.
September was a fun filled one as Bandra fair has been up but at the same time it was a busyyy one like whole day shoots and all, exams were approaching and stuff. But in the end the month was a great one as the shoot ended well (not really tho).
October was one great month for me. We had our department’s fest ‘MONTAGE’ where I got a chance to interview Zoya Lobo ma’am- India’s first Transgender Journalist, also met Jigna Vora ma’am. Gave everyone a heart attack during my segments and much more overall it was great one. Gave my semester 5 exams, didn’t study well so was tensed. Diwali vacations started and it was a good one watched F1 races back-to-back weekends till 4am and watched, my favourite team win a podium although not a win but Mercedes drivers were at least getting podiums,
Best part was when I received a mail for a free pass to the Jio Mami Film Festival and obviously I did apply for it. Later our department too got the same opportunity through our HOD but ya best part I got it first (flex flex). Went to watch movies and another best part… Jio Mami Merchandise.
November was fun as I did my first proper wedding event (not the wedding day) but the pre and post wedding rituals. Visited the airport, Bandra terminus and Gorai jetty for an assignment. The best part about this was while talking to the Station master of Bandra Terminus Mr Soni sir I came to know he had interest in my field talking-talking time went by and he offered for me for a chai (tea) and we had our ‘chai pe charcha’ damn these kind of experiences of listening and connecting with people are sooo good.
December is always a banger no matter what be it COVID or no December is always to remember. So much happened in month of December. Visited and had Starbucks Coffee for the first time in my life as I always prefer chai, also budget is the biggest issue. While working on a magazine making project met a very humble, down to earth sir named Manoj, although I didn’t click a picture with him I had approached him for an interview and a convo intiated about coffee where I told him I’ve never visited Starbucks so he said “ I’ll take you to Starbucks later” I thought he was joking around but he wasn’t and after the interview he actually took to Starbucks for a coffee.
December is also a month. Visited the ICW (Indian Cocktail Week) with a friend thanks to her for the passes, (mai toh free mai gaya tha). The best things about December is Christmas and Christmas sweets, had a blast Christmas.
26th December every year is celebrated as the feast St. Jerome at Kashimira (Mira- Bhayandar) where bullock carts, horse carts and large number visit also to double the fun it’s like a fair (mela) over there. It’s a experience to get at least once in your lifetime. Had a great time at Kashimira too and clicked some good pictures of the horses, bulls and church.
The blog got delayed as I had a sudden plan to come to Akkalkot at D Green Hill Village Resort, so I couldn’t get time and my cousin needed their laptop so I couldn’t use it to write the blog. This was my 2023 recap. My 2023 was blessed and now I’m praying for 2024. Happy New Year 2024.
